Menomonee Falls Police Department Crime Alert!
The Menomonee Falls Police Department received information regarding a telephone scam with a suspect claiming to be a representative from WE Energies.
The suspect threatened that WE Energies would cut the power off to the victim’s business if he didn’t pay the bill.
The victim was instructed to purchase $1500 in reloadable gift cards to make a payment for an outstanding utility balance. These gift cards can be purchased from most area merchants and once loaded, the charges cannot be reversed.
The Victim advised that the call came from phone # 1-877-334-4951 and the person calling was named Todd Harper or Hopper, which was fraudulent/ficticious.
